Designed to make transferring of data (recordings) between the Alesis HD24 and a computer a little easier, the Fireport is a Firewire adapter for Alesis FSR formatted IDE hard drives.
Alesis developed its own file format (FST) which was amazingly reliable. The problem was however, that you couldn’t just pull out the hard drives and plug them into a Mac or a PC. You had to use their software (Alesis Connect) to access the file structure. The Fireport helps you get over the initial connecting up, if you like.
Like the HD24, the Fireport is an old bit of kit so it would be wise to check compatibility with your computer and its operating system.
