The Vaulted Skies – Show 009

Preparation for the show started a little earlier than usual as meeting with The Vaulted Skies a couple of weeks prior made us very aware of the plethora of equipment these guys use. Even Martin the drummer had a bunch of electronics set up next to him. As it turned out, the initially intimidating amount of tech’ was very quickly set up and integrated into our house PA and recording system. The Vaulted Skies – Biography

Formed in 2013, The Vaulted Skies deliver an energetic blend of Gothic rock and dance music. With a dark feel to their songs, the supporting soundscape is dense and filled with an abundance of sounds which keeps the listener’s attention. Lyrics are superbly written to very catchy melodies or perhaps on occasion, the other way around but again with that underlying exciting backing from the band’s instruments. There was something in the air tonight that made us feel that this show, featuring The Midnights and Sweetcornbread was going to be a little different from previous shows. With a very excited crowd at their feet, the evening kicked off with some beautiful harmonies from The Midnights. Working very organically, The Midnights consistently delivered a smooth, silky performance with voices combining to produce an amazing choir at times and then delightful arpeggios at others. The Midnights – Biography

The Midnights (originally known as The Midnight Choir) formed in 2010 starting with twelve members singing acapella Latin and old American folk. Since then, the line–up has been subject to several transformations and today, the band comprises five female vocals with three guys on instrumental support. Sweetcornbread – Biography

Sweetcornbread songs were written back in 2002 but the band was officially born in 2008, from childhood friendships and a merge of former bands The Expensive Habits and Surveillance State Prisoners. The distinctive style comes from a crossover of genres. With references to the likes of The Band, Clash and Gomez. You will hear undertones of Americana, Reggae, Funk, Latin and Bluegrass amongst their all-original material. Since 2010 Sweetcornbread has been performing at independent festivals and venues across the UK.
