The Vaulted Skies – Biography
Formed in 2013, The Vaulted Skies deliver an energetic blend of Gothic rock and dance music. With a dark feel to their songs, the supporting soundscape is dense and filled with an abundance of sounds which keeps the listener’s attention.
Lyrics are superbly written to very catchy melodies or perhaps on occasion, the other way around but again with that underlying exciting backing from the band’s instruments. Solid drums with tight bass and two guitars alternating in delivering aggressive power chords and jangley leads, the keyboard sounds kind of just slip in there enhancing that Gothic, electro-dancy feel.
Influenced by artists such as Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Placebo, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, New Order, Joy Division, Warpaint and Savages and having a passion for science-fiction, songwriter and frontman, James Scott has a lot to say through the band’s songs. With input from Martin (drums), Ben (guitar) and Karly (bass), James’ lyrics develop into a very high impact combination of ‘poetry’ and sound which some call Gothic rock.
James’ influences don’t stop at music, however. As mentioned, science-fiction movies and films like The Crow all contribute to moulding the mind behind The Vaulted Skies’ songs.
Having supported David Bowie and Reeves Gabrels in 2015, The Vaulted Skies are quite used to working in a professional environment and are no strangers to playing in front of large audiences.
The opening track of The Vaulted Skies’ EP ‘No Fate’ is the awesome sounding ‘Does Anyone Else Feel (Strange)’ immediately sums up what this band is all about, where they come from and more importantly… where they’re going.
